Avoid Scarring! Learn Face Picking 101
We all know face picking can turn your complexion scary, and fast. Realistically, however, we know we are going to do it (to be blunt). So if you are going to do it, do it right. We would not want you to create a scary scar this Halloween.
Step 1: Prep Your Face
First and foremost, prep your face. Before any face picking session, you need to open up your pores to allow extractions to come easier and to reduce the chance of scarring. Start by washing and steaming your face. An easy time to extract is immediately after taking a warm or hot shower. Another option is to hold a washcloth dampened with hot water over the area for a few of minutes. Or do both, first a hot shower, then a steamy washcloth for maximum pore opening.
Step 2: Prevent Bacteria From Spreading
Once your face is prepped, take a deep relaxing breath and cover both your pointer fingers with a piece of tissue so you don’t spread bacteria from your hands to your face. Use the sides of your finger to press on each side of the pimple – DO NOT use your fingernails. Press down and then in towards the pimple. If nothing is extracted after two or three tries, leave it alone. It is not yet ready to extract.
Step 3: Clean Up
Once the extraction is complete, clean the area by wiping it with an alcohol-free toner like our Amalou Skin PRIME Detoxifying Tonic on a cotton ball. Then, grab an ice cube from the freezer and apply to the area to calm swelling and irritation. Step 4: Prevent Any New Pimples From Sprouting Up
Finally, apply an anti-blemish treatment to the area, like our RESTORE Night Treatment or, if you have time, apply a mask with anti-inflammatory properties. Don’t forget about the ‘NOBOOHOO16’ 15% Off PRIME and RESTORE Halloween discount coupons.
With these four little steps, you can save yourself the embarrassment of showing up at holiday functions with red bumps, sores, and spots all over your face. So for Halloween, there should be no boo-hooing over your complexion. You got this!
